My Background
I originally received my Bachelor of Arts Degree
from UC Berkeley in Psychology, but quickly decided I was interested in
a more hands-on approach to helping people.
I went on to Columbia University in New York City to receive my B.S. in
Nursing and practiced as a Registered Nurse both in New York and the
San Francisco Bay Area for 13 years in Labor and Delivery.
During this time my interest in Alternative Medicine grew. Taking a
break from Nursing, I decided to pursue training in Traditional Chinese
Medicine at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in
Oakland, CA.
I have been a licensed Acupuncturist and a nationally certified
Herbalist for over 8 years, with a busy practice in Lafayette, CA.
My Philosophy
I believe the body has an innate desire to heal itself. It strives for stability both physically and spiritually.
I
see my role as the facilitator, recognizing the imbalances and
assisting and guiding the body’s energy to right itself and maintain
health.
I also see my role as a consultant to help my patients make
lifestyle changes and choices that support balance in their lives and
bodies.
Because I was a nurse for so many years, I am
comfortable working in conjunction with Western medicine, often
consulting with medical doctors on chronic cases, if needed. I am
committed to the integration of Western and Alternative Medicine.
